수동태

수동태의 형태

S V O(3형식)부터 만들 수 있다.

목적어가 필요하다

 

• Mr. Taylor’s initial plan was rejected by his supervisor.
                               과거 수동형
• Coffee and bread will be served in the lobby.
                           미래 수동형
• The cafeteria on the first floor is being renovated.
                                            현재진행 수동형

• All of the tables (at the restaurant) have been reserved.
                                                 현재완료 수동형

4형식의 수동태

• Mr. Brown gave              him           the presentation material.
            능동형 동사    간접 목적어              직접 목적어
->    He      was given    the presentation material by Mr. Brown.
간접 목적어 수동형 동사         직접 목적어
The presentation material was given to       him by Mr. Brown.

5형식의 수동태

S V O C

The board of directors  elected      him   the next president.
                            능동형 동사 목적어     목적격 보어

→ He      was elected    the next president by the board of directors.

수동태에 쓰이는 by 이외의 전치사

be engaged in ~에 종사하다          be interested in ~에 관심이 있다
be dedicated to ~에 헌신하다        be related to ~와 관계가 있다
be surprised at ~에 놀라다            be shocked at ~에 충격을 받다
be satisfied with ~에 만족하다       be pleased with ~에 기뻐하다
